Tips Theft is a major inconvenience in La Paz, specially around tourist areas. Although its not violent crimes like purse snatching, bag opening and pocket slicing are not uncommon experiences between travelers and Bolivians alike. Use your backpack in the front when walking on crowded streets. I don't recommend long trips inside Bolivia, they are uncomfortable since the roads are very bad, its better to make short daytrips to get from one destination to the other. Don't believe anyone that tells you that cross border trips are made in the same bus. Sooner or later you will have to change to a local bus (from La Paz/Copacabana to Cuzco specially)
