  What to Do

Amsterdam: Visit the Van Gogh Museum, its worth to get out of the way for that, its surrounded by beautiful parks and gardens. Also nearby you can enjoy the Rijksmuseum.
A solemn visit to the Anne Frank would give you an insight of the terrible things that happened in Europe during the war, although the house is completely reformed and most of the furniture and walls are not the original ones they still keep the bookcase that leads to the second floor of the House where the family hid.

A stroll through the city is well recommended as well, its very peaceful and quiet, be careful of the bicycles as they wont stop for tourist standing in the bike lanes. There are many old churches and building you can enter and walk around and they are practically deserted.

Now in Amsterdam so called "soft" drugs as Hashish and Marihuana are legal. Coffee shops abound specially in the tourist zones and they cater smokers from all over the world. Entering to a coffee shop is worth the experience, but the air is quite thick inside. You can have a coffee, tea, soft drink but no alcohol is served. There is a separate menu for Drugs and they will treat it as yet another item for sale. Hard drugs are not legal and you can be prosecuted for possession, buying or consuming cocaine, heroine and Opium.
Prostitution as well was legalized and there is a whole neighborhood dedicated to the oldest trade, the Red light district. There woman can have a booth with a window to the street where they pose, invite and attend their customers.

  Travel Tips

Rent a bike, move through the city like locals do, you can get almost anywhere in the city with it and there are many places to park and to rent the bicycles. Exercise precaution when leaving the bikes as theft is common, specially on tourists.

Amsterdam is quite safe but don't forget that with so many people getting stoned, doing mushrooms and drinking alcohol sometimes things may finish in trouble. There is also a big market for illegal drugs and police has no mercy for those caught in possession of them. Hard drugs are Illegal.
