  Travel Tips

Spain is a safe, secure and easy country to travel within, careful in the streets of Barcelona and Madrid during the night specially in small streets as theft occasionally has been reported.
Train and buses can get you anywhere in Spain, Europe and to the crossing to Africa.

Tapas is a cheap way to eat and have a drink, usually in Madrid bars every time you order a beer they will bring some little snack to eat. If you ask around you'll get even better deals with typical places serving all kind of tapas with your drink (Gambas, Jamon, Seafood, Chicken, Flavored breads and much more)

  What to Buy

A good present in Spain is undoubtedly a guitar, but not a present for everyone, so if you are going straight back to your country a good wine and a piece of Cured Ham can be a good souvenir, don't forget to hide it from the customs officers though.
I would also recomend visiting the shops of the museums in Madrid they offer a bunch of nice presents as well

  Food

Paella:
Normally Paella is made on a specially designed pot, and on big portions. To make a Small Paella for 4 people though you can cook it in a flat pan, preferable with no plastic parts so it can go inside the oven.

We will need:
Main Ingredients: Rice and Saffron
Garlic
Onions
Red Peppers
Green peas
Carrot
Chicken
Shrimps
Mussels
White Fish
Other Seafood that you may like to put: octopus, clams, etc.
Chicken broth
Oil, salt and pepper

To Prepare the Paella we will heat the pan, add olive oil and brown the garlic. Then add the onions, some salt and when they are turning clear the rest of the vegetables. When the peppers get soft add the rice and stir.
When the rice is hot add the meat, fish and seafood. Stir and add the saffron and chicken broth (boiling hot). Make boil again and and let cook for 30 minutes at least in a low fire. Finally cook extra 10 minutes in Hot oven and serve!
